Three Oaks Principal Moves On

By Kristine Ensor

In March 2026, students and parents heard the news that Principal Kyle Block and Vice Principal Rosalba Conde were resigning from Three Oaks Elementary School.

Block became principal in the Fall of 2023. Even though his tenure was brief, he leaves behind a community that loved his energy and the improvements he made to the school.

As a parent, I watched students connect with Block in ways that few school leaders achieve. When told he was a natural for the job, he joked back saying, “It’s because I’m just a big kid.” His affability and tall stature definitely left an impression, but the difference he made to the Three Oaks community went far beyond that.

In 2023, School Superintendent Dr. Brandon White took the then-new administrator, with experience in Gurnee as an Associate Principal, and put him in charge of his own school.

In only a few short years, Block made significant changes to the students’ curriculum and schedules, and added several new events that gave back to the community. The addition of Soaring Student Assemblies encourages and honors students for being themselves. Friday Fun Nights gives kids the opportunity to connect and parents the chance to relax.

Block credits many of these changes to an action-oriented and supportive community. As a new Principal, he was surprised and excited to see parents come together to add three new playgrounds to the facility. “It’s easy to say you want to do something, but it’s rare to see it happen.”

Block’s involvement helped shape a culture at Three Oaks where students felt recognized, families felt welcomed, and community partnerships flourished.

"Mr. Block will be greatly missed. He knew the name of every child that attended Three Oaks and cared deeply for the students. I often even saw him filling in for the crossing guard when needed and shoveling snow from the sidewalk in winter," shared Kristin Barth, Three Oaks parent and PTO Recording Secretary.

While new leadership guides Three Oaks into its next chapter, Block’s involvement has permanently strengthened the school’s culture. Block hopes he’s just one of a plethora of positive memories for students at Three Oaks.
